Best known for boat shoes that have logged more miles of open ocean than any other brand, the Sperry Top-Sider story began on a raw winter day in New England. When avid sailor and hobbyist inventor Paul Sperry let his dog Prince out for his daily exercise, he noticed that the cocker spaniel was remarkably stable, even at a full run on the snow covered, icy crust. Paul raced back to his laboratory to begin working. Using pieces of rubber, a razor blade, and an ordinary sneaker, Paul had soon pieced together the prototype of the world's first boat shoe. Subsequent designs yielded the original Sperry Top-Sider now known as the Authentic Original. Since 1935, Sperry Top-Sider has been the leading brand of footwear for those who love the water. From its introduction of the world's first siped rubber outsole for non-marking traction, to its advanced technical fabrication to combat the elements, Sperry Top-Sider remains the vanguard of high-performance amphibious footwear. Available around the globe in fine independent, marine, and department stores, Sperry Top-Sider is the official footwear of the U.S. Sailing Team, Zodiac Academy, the World Billfish Series, and the Shimano Fishing Tour.

I use this shoe to dinner, walking, driving, and around the apartment. I have an old pair and they were so comfortable that I wanted another pair. Geat shoe.I stopped wearing topsiders about 5 years ago after spending a whole summer day walking the New York City sidewalks. The pounding feeling on my heel became unbearable and I threw them in the garbage after buying a pair of rubber sandals at a corner drug store. I did miss topsiders for lightweight summer sockless convenience and was intrigued by the description of these based on the cushioning in the sole and heel. Well let me say these are the real deal. Probably the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned. The cushioning and support is all there and the leather is glove softI should add that I also tried the shoes in the darker amaretto color and while the cushioning and support is the same, the leather is thicker and not as soft. The lighter color shoe is made with super soft leather that feels broken in from day 1.I have three pairs of the Gold Series Topsiders in my closet that are 10 years+ old. As stands to reason, soft bottomed shoe wear. But they are still useful for kicking around the house. One pair is still perfect, but do to health reason, I have experienced swelling of the feet and had to get a new pair a size larger. Inside of three weeks three of the rivets on the side of the shoe have popped out. My old one have every rivet in place. This tells me Topsiders are not what they used to be. Outside of that, I have no complaints.I would say the shoe is a good one. However the shoes laces are a real problem being made out of leather the loosen all the time and then don't hold up. Come up with a better way and it would be a great shoe. This shoe (of which I have two pairs) is wonderful with these two exceptions:(1) The sole is constructed (which I don't understand, and my former company--for which I was the controller--supplies them with all their rubber) in two pieces: a thin (about 8mm) layer that meets the pavement, glued to a thicker, main plate that meets the leather. On both of my paris, the thin sole separated from the under sole (the glue failed) so that I had to have a cobbler reglue them at $10 per shoe. So, when buying, factor this additional cost in.Second, the inside leather--which is deer skin--bleeds when you sweat and stains your socks. I wear only all wool, thick socks with these, and washing them does not remove the stains.Other than these two issues, these are wonderfully comfortable, outstanding shoes. They look great in the office with khakis, jeans, or corduroy. And they wear well and last. The rubber is very abrasion resistant, so it lasts.Recommended.Just bought a pair of these Sperry Gold Cup to replace a very well worn pair. They are very well made and very comfortable. The inside is so smooth and soft, it makes my feet happy! These same shoes sell for $160 at Nordstrom and other department stores. So, this is a very nice price.Just to tell you about my old pair of Sperry Gold Cups, I wore them everywhere. I'd wear them to the beach, to the pool, going out for a causal lunch and just about anywhere. They've become one of my favorites. The style is classic which means they'll never go out of style, and looks good with almost any clothing assortment. The outside seems reasonably durable, but the insides began falling apart after 2 days of wear. The deerskin leather on both insoles separated and was curling under my feet causing quite a bit of discomfort. The red foam of the insole started tearing apart as well and stained my socks red. The stitching around the front of one shoe also showed signs of poor workmanship. For almost $200 with tax this pair of shoes was a huge disappointment. I called Amazon and they accepted a return with full refund even though I had worn the shoes. These are definitely not the same quality of Topsiders I have owned in over 40 years of sailing.Item as described. Inferior made in China product, but what else would you expect from them people. The original USA made were the best. These will have to do. Satisfied. These are great deck shoes, with anti-mark soles that grip well. Full leather upper. They look great and are very comfortable.TRES BIEN COMME ATTENDU
