I'm a competitive sailor in San Francisco Bay. I need a serious pair of boat shoes. I change into and out of my boar shoes on the boat. They never see any street use. These are very comfortable, but the rubber is a bit harder (less gripping power) than I would like. The gripping power is acceptable though. The "stickiness" of these soles may be an accommodation to other factors - wear, hardening, etc. I had a different model (no longer made) of Sperry shoes that had great soles - really soft, lots of grip - but they dried out (got hard) after a year or so. These slightly harder soles may last longer and prove to be a better value. Time will tell.I own multiple pairs of the traditional Sea Kite all leather boat shoe and wear them every day ( Great Shoes). Sperry sells this model as a sneaker. I ordered it for walking I like the support this shoe provides but the foot beds is a bit less comfortable than the traditional all leather Sea kite.I bought these shoes as dedicated pair of boat shoes. I wanted shoes that were both light and nimble to wear on my boat, and these fit THAT purpose very well. I wouldn't walk miles in them - that's not what they are designed for. But for climbing onto and around the deck or dock, or anywhere on the boat - they provide a secure foothold while remaining BOTH light and flexible - which is what a good boat shoe should do.I like them however they were a 1/2 size too big. I usually were a 10 and needed a 9.5. Bought a different pair of sperrys. Maybe these needed broken in like other sperrys or maybe it was the 1/2 size too big. They were not comfortable without socks and boating shoes should be worn without socksHaven't worn them enough times to give a fair evaluation , but considering that I already have a pair just like them.... I'm sure I will wear them often.These work well on wet decks. I'm on the bow of a 70' race boat and they work well. Good bang for the buck.These are just great. While wahoo fishing all my friends were saying I would skid on the boat. They all did, except me. I love these shoes, they're comfortable, light weight and water drains out easily.I am glad I have. Now this shoe look good when I am 1st place in the Laser races. It the shoe.
