**Update to my previous notes on sizing. I've been wearing these Sebago Docksides around (in the navy with red sole) for a few days now. At first, I found that tying the laces tight enough to keep on my foot, but loose enough to not put uncomfortable pressure on the top of my foot - to be difficult. However after a couple of days and finding the right tightness, they are very comfortable. I will also add in that just today, I tied the laces to look more neat and tidy using these short video tutorials (from Sperry actually). I did the fishtail and added the 'acorn' or barrel ends to my extra length. Not only do the laces look MUCH better now (neat, tidy, cute) - it also seems to have helped with creating a tight enough fit that is in no way uncomfortable. Here's the link to the unique lace tying tricks: [...]Just received these shoes, and wanted to leave a quick review for now on sizing (because I'm ALWAYS looking for this info in other reviews). I typically waver between a size 6 and a size 6.5 in shoes of all different kinds of styles. With flat shoes like these boat shoes, I often need a 6 (doesn't matter the manufacturer, but just in case you are curious, I am a definite 6 in Sperry's if you are comparing the two brands). I went with my gut and ordered a 6 in these, and the fit is correct! So if you are between sizes, I'd recommend going with the smaller of your two sizes, especially if you are like me and find that most flats run long and floppy. I will say, the heel of the shoe is lower than average, and with the overall fit, this means that I will need to rely on actually tying the laces with correct tightness to keep the shoe on my foot...but that is to be expected to a degree. Will have to write again later on durability and long term comfort. Style is just as pictured though, coloring is accurate for the navy version with red sole and brown laces.Experience with Sperry and Sebago has always been that they run narrow.I have a C width that can usually wear a B, depending on the manufacturer and the shoe. This review is for a wide width Docksider. The front fits fine, but holy smoke, the back is like a clown shoe on me. Way too wide, no grip on the back of my heel.Either that part of my foot has shrunk or these shoes are not only wide but wide all over. No amount of lace pulling would correct the situation. Unless I can order down a size, these will be worn with socks so they can grip shoe better.Other than that, they have all the quality you expect.Perfect sole for the boat, no scuff marks left behind.I purchased the sand suede about six months ago and have gotten lots of wear out of them. They needed no breaking in whatsoever. The fit is so good that somehow, magically, I can wear them both with and without socks with no adjustment. I do find them more comfortable with a gel insole if I'm going to be doing a fair amount of walking in them without socks. This is for the ball-of-the-foot area, which can get a bit sensitive for me after awhile. I have no problems whatsoever with the heel area or anything on the top or sides rubbing uncomfortably or causing blisters, in spite of the fact that this is a fairly substantial shoe (not "soft"). The color is perfect for three-season wear. Not only would I buy this brand again, but I just did! My new Spinnakers are fabulous as well.Long slender feet are so difficult to fit but this shoe is amazing. I had a pair of Sebago Docksides years ago that were worth every penny I spent on them and these appear to be very similar. I slogged through all types of weather and they felt better with every wearing. The width (11B) is a little wide but the laces allow me to pull in the width for a more snug fit. There is some arch support and the toe box is perfect. This is my second pair of Sebago Docksides. I needed a pair of black ones so I took the chance that they would be exactly like the ones that I bought probably five years ago. They fit identically. No break in time, just a nice fit. I'm a size 7 1/2 and these shoes are a perfect fit. I also normally wear an AA width but I can still wear these in a medium. They probably run a little narrow and you can adjust the width with the tie on the front. So i bought the navy blue in winter and just started TRYING to wear them. Leather is soooo stiff. They were impossible to wear. HOWEVER, i didnt give up. I took the hummer and started beating the heel part. than stepped on it. Made them softer that way and the still look great. then heated up the back with the hair drier and put them on with a thick sock. So the result they fit perfectly. Just do not over do the strech ingI was so happy to find these in a wide width. I first ordered my regular size, and 8.5 wide. They were quite large, so I exchanged them for the 8 Wide. Perfect. I love the way these shoes look, and I wore them all through high school in the 80s. It's like finding an old friend. These shoes don't appear to have changed at all since then, and I fully expect to get years of service from them.I have never had such a hard time breaking in a pair of moccasins - the leather is very stuff - I am sure they will be comfy soon. The last pair was 7 1/2 and they stretched out too much. So I ordered size 7.I bought these Sebago Docksides to replace some I'd had for years which were very comfortable but well worn. These new ones did not disappoint! Comfortable, plenty of toe room, size 5 was spot on, I'm a size 38. They are well made and look good, well worth the money and they arrived in 2 days with normal delivery. I don't sail anymore but these deck shoes look great with shorts, trousers, jeans... so pleased with them and the neutral colour goes with everything.Smart and comfortable casual shoe - nice colour and true to sizeVery, very comfortable. Wearing without socks and still very comfortable. Fast delivery.Disappointed with these as they were very wide and not suitable for narrow/average feet. I have since found another good quality boat shoe that fits beautifully!!Usually take size 5 but these were too large so changed for 4 1/2 which made a huge difference in length and overall. Very good product though.
